Drew and annotated a 22'-9" × 24'-9" office floor plan in AutoCAD: laid out the exterior walls to dimension, organized geometry onto separate layers with distinct colours and lineweights, cut 39" door openings, inserted and edited furniture blocks, and applied hatch patterns at the appropriate scale.
Operation
Task
Draw and annotate an office plan in AutoCAD
Using AutoCAD 2026, draw and annotate an office layout measuring 22'-9" × 24'-9", entirely through the AutoCAD GUI and command line.
Open a new AutoCAD 2026 file, set the drawing units to the imperial system, and configure the Dimension Style (DIMSTYLE) to display dimensions appropriately (imperial and metric where required).
Create and organize layers for the different drawing elements.
Draw the office walls with the Polyline command (PL); use XLINE (XL) to mark reference lines and locate door openings; mark openings for 39-inch-wide doors.
Open a reference office layout file, copy the required furniture into the new drawing, and place/arrange the furniture blocks according to the layout. Draw any additional furniture elements as needed.
Add hatches to selected furniture/drawing elements with the HATCH command, adjusting the pattern/type and scale to get the representation you want.
Insert and position existing furniture blocks, editing them to suit the layout.
Assign objects to the appropriate layers and adjust layer properties (colour/lineweight) to keep the drawing organized and readable.
